Therapists for college students near University of Texas at Austin
Hi, I'm Ayesha! We all face mental health challenges at different points in life, and seeking clarity is often the first step toward healing. You may be experiencing low moods, intrusive thoughts, or body image distress—all of which can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, and fatigue. Sadly, many people suffer in silence, avoiding the deeper work needed to shift unhelpful thinking patterns. This can create a cycle of guilt, shame, and unworthiness that reinforces emotional and behavioral struggles. I’m here to help you break that cycle. Through evidence-based therapeutic interventions, I support clients in identifying and disrupting negative thought patterns, gaining new perspectives on themselves and their life experiences. Together, we’ll work to unlearn unhealthy beliefs, better understand your emotions, and develop healthy coping strategies to manage life's challenges more effectively. As a clinician, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space where you can grow, heal, and explore your emotional experiences. I lead with empathy, compassion, and validation, while also maintaining a goal-oriented approach to help you make lasting changes. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate mood disorders, stress-related issues, and eating disorders. If you're ready to take that first brave step, I’m here to walk alongside you. Reach out today, and let’s begin your journey to healing.

I've spent 18 years working with teens as a high school counselor and teacher. Now as an LPC Associate, I use this previous experience to support adolescents and young adults as they navigate today's challenges. As a former educator, I have seen first hand the pressure that academics, social groups, and today's changing world can place on adolescents. Teens develop anxiety, stress, and negative coping skills to deal with this pressure. I help adolescents overcome these challenges by helping them explore their values, emotions, practice new coping strategies, and develop confidence that they will carry into adulthood.

I believe therapy is a space for growth and change that can lead to stronger relationships, healthier ways of functioning, and a deeper sense of well-being. In our work together, I’ll bring empathy, respect, and genuine care. My role is to support you in becoming more self-aware and confident, while helping you make the changes you want to see in your life. To me, therapy is a collaborative process. I’m not here to "fix" you, but to walk alongside you as a guide, a support, and sometimes just a steady presence while you navigate life’s challenges. I truly believe that everyone has the ability to grow and the responsibility to pursue that growth when they’re ready. I also believe our relationships with family, partners, friends, or chosen community play a huge role in our overall well-being. When those connections feel off or strained, it can affect so many other areas of life. Whether we're working one-on-one, with a couple, or with a family, I take a systemic approach to understand the bigger picture and help shift patterns that may be keeping you stuck. And I know that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. We’ll work together to find what feels right for you. Most importantly, I’ll offer a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly heard. I specialize in supporting high-achieving professionals, especially those in academia or the helping profession (doctors, nurses, therapists, pastors), who grapple with perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, codependency, and the challenge of prioritizing their own needs amidst the many demands of their personal and professional lives. As an immigrant, I bring a rich, cross-cultural perspective to therapy and a deep appreciation for how culture shapes identity, relationships, and mental health. Many of my clients are navigating complex intersections of cultural expectations, academic roles, and personal values. In addition to my clinical practice, I am a professor and active researcher. My academic work focuses on interpersonal trauma and its impact on relationships and meaning-making. This dual identity as both clinician and scholar informs my approach: deeply reflective, integrative, and grounded in both science and lived experience. I work exclusively via Telehealth with adult clients residing in GA, MI, and TX. I believe that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship—one that offers both safety and challenges patterns by providing direct and honest feedback. If you're ready to invest in yourself and your well-being, I invite you to reach out.
Many people start thinking about therapy because, emotionally, they don’t feel good. Maybe your emotions end up taking you for a ride and you feel helpless to stop it. Emotions come and go, but they can sometimes feel endless, especially if they are intense. Or maybe you are struggling to get in touch with your emotions and you find it difficult to connect. Either way, what ends up making it worse is the power struggle we get into with our own emotions. We want to push away the ones that feel bad and force the ones that feel good, but that never works for long. Wouldn’t it be easier to avoid the power struggle completely?
