Therapists for college students near University of Pennsylvania
I have had the privilege of helping people in the counseling field since 2015! I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Drexel University in 2017 and I earned my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in School Counseling from Holy Family University in 2020. I work full-time as a certified school and college counselor and licensed professional counselor at New Beginnings Virtual Counseling. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing techniques to empower individuals to better understand themselves and to achieve their goals by overcoming anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, life changes, transitions, and difficulty with making decisions. I enjoy facilitating sessions for adolescents and young adults so that we can collaborate together for me to warmly provide goal setting, direct feedback, and flexibility in sessions to best support your needs and wellbeing!

I am a licensed professional counselor who has a straightforward approach that is combined with empathy and understanding. I will take a person where they are, not where I want them to be or where others tell them they should be. I have worked for the past 10+ years with individuals who experience a combination of symptoms/stressors. I have worked with many different individuals with varying diagnoses, to include depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, trauma, and personality disorders. I use a combination of therapies to be most effective in approaching treatment with others. I do not take walk-in appointments, and I am best reached by email or texting. I do offer free 20-minute phone-consultations for any person looking to explore therapy and still has questions or concerns.
My work and experience have allowed me to aid individuals in many age brackets. I am able to be adaptable to meet the needs of the individuals in front of me. While I specialize in treating Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders and traumas, I have the capacity to assist with a range of issues and problems people may present with. I am working on national certification in EMDR and work to use this approach to help others suffering from traumatic experiences to move forward. I want to be able to understand my clients to build trust and connection. Much of the beginning sessions are spent building this through clear expectations.

Talking about your feelings can be incredibly hard to do, especially in a fast-paced life where emotions feel like they can get in the way. I work hard to build a warm, emotionally-safe space in therapy in which you can share and explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that challenges you, but doesn’t feel overwhelming. Utilizing cognitive behavioral, family therapy, and mindfulness interventions, I help patients to increase awareness and improve their relationship with their emotions. Whether you’re just curious or feeling ready to work on your emotional wellbeing, I’m glad that you found me. I’m always excited to support someone in taking better care of themselves!
Is sobriety harder than you predicted? Are you wanting support to work on underlying trauma and low self esteem while maintaining your recovery? I'm Brooke, a licensed drug and alcohol counselor and licensed social worker that specializes in addictions therapy for women in their twenties. I am passionate about helping women recover from alcoholism and helping them to find peace within their lives. Often times, the overuse of substances is a result of underlying trauma, low self esteem and attachment issues and can increase our overall anxiety and negatively impact our relationships.
Hi, I’m Ainsley Rager, and I’m so glad you’re here. At True to You Counseling, I help college students reconnect with who they are beneath all the pressure to appear as though they have it all together. If you're feeling overwhelmed, questioning your worth, or trying to make sense of everything college throws your way, you’re not alone. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to perform or pretend. I offer warmth, support, and honest conversation as we work toward greater clarity, confidence, and a deeper sense of belonging in yourself and your relationships. Clients often describe my presence as warm and calming, and say they feel at ease in our sessions. Many have shared that through our work together, they feel truly seen and more able to show up as their authentic selves in everyday life. Do you ever wonder if you’re too much, or not enough? If that question resonates, you’re not alone. I often work with college students navigating the pressures of perfectionism, the weight of needing to succeed, and the unspoken expectation to always appear “okay” even when things feel anything but. Many are facing significant changes, such as starting college, switching majors, or preparing to graduate. They may also feel stuck in confusing or unhealthy relationships, wanting more emotional connection but unsure how to ask for it, or afraid to be vulnerable. The constant pressure of social media comparisons and digital noise adds another layer of stress and self-doubt. Together, we’ll create a safe, welcoming space where you can feel comfortable exploring your feelings and experiences at your own pace. We’ll gently work on recognizing and expressing your emotions through mindfulness and reflection to help you feel more connected to yourself. I’ll be here to support you as you learn to challenge those harsh inner voices and replace them with kinder, more understanding thoughts. We’ll focus on building healthy relationships through clearer communication and setting boundaries, helping you feel more confident in your connections. Along the way, we’ll find ways to manage the stress that comes with digital life and set goals that feel meaningful to you, supporting your growth with care and understanding. If you’re ready, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

I work best with students who feel pulled in different directions—academics, friendships, family, work—and are trying to keep up while feeling exhausted on the inside. Many of my clients are navigating ADHD, complicated family dynamics, or relationship stress. Some feel pressure to be “strong” or “put together,” even when they’re struggling. If you want support in understanding yourself better, building healthier boundaries, or feeling more grounded day to day, I’m here to help.
I have worked with people of all backgrounds but I generally work with women and the LGBT community. I work with clients on self-esteem, body positivity, anxiety management, trauma symptoms, and relational issues. As a human and a provider, I am feminist, anti-racist, fat positive, sex positive, pro-science, pro-vaccine, and pro-LGBT. My approach is varied depending on the individual's history with treatment. For people new to therapy, it may be helpful to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT involves looking at thoughts patterns and behaviors that may be creating obstacles in your life and setting up appropriate coping skills to address those issues. For people who come to therapy for the purpose of processing trauma, a trauma-informed, relational approach is necessary. For people who are looking to gain understanding about how their past intersects with their present behaviors, insight oriented therapy would be the best approach. I am not a "Listen and Nod" therapist. I will actively listen, provide you with feedback and analysis, and be open with you about your diagnosis, prognosis, and any treatments indicated. With full transparency, I say that I am not a validation-only therapist. Some folks want a therapist who will listen and validate without providing feedback or analysis. That is not my style. I will, however, work with you to figure out exactly how you can benefit from therapy.
At Ren & Rei Counseling, we are a very relaxed environment. When you come to the office you can greet a dog, snuggle some cats, grab a drink, and have some snacks. You can even kick off your shoes!
I have been practicing as a licensed psychologist in State College for 25 years. I enjoy working with graduate and under graduate students who are exploring important issues in their lives

I provide mental health counseling services for individuals who are looking to gain a deeper understanding of themselves as well as work through any mental health concerns they are experiencing. Anxiety is my primary area of focus for my practice. I am passionate about working with clients and learning how to best navigate your struggles as a team. If you are a professional struggling with anxiety, navigating college or entering the working world, starting or ending a new relationship, struggling with emotional regulation regarding depression, or having a hard time with disordered eating and body image, it is my goal to help you reaffirm your strengths and identify new skills to reach your goals. I aim to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment where we can reflect on your past experiences, your successes, and discuss growth. I offer a collaborative approach and can support you using various therapy tools, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical- Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. I am also trained in Exposure and Response Prevention, which can help with OCD. We all have the strengths to navigate the messy moments in life, but adjusting can be hard at times. My hope in creating a non-judgmental environment is to provide a safe place for you to work through your thoughts and emotions in an unfiltered way. The first step is hard and I hope to be a part of your growth in any way I can!
