Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
Modern Outlook LLC owned by Demetrio Sanchez, LCSW, founded in 2017, has teamed up with Restore Therapy LLC to provide in-person and virtual mental health and performance coaching to local athletes in the Pacific Northwest and nationally. Driven out of their own experiences of being collegiate athletes and then later acquiring training as mental health professionals, it became obvious that there was a need for mental health support specific to athletes. The partnership aims to meet that need. Modern Outlook has developed the niche of performance-focused mental health services over the course of serving a range of competitive athletes in every sport.
Hey! It can be an overwhelming experience to reach out for therapy services and I am happy to answer any questions you may have to ensure I am a good fit for your desired goals. If this is your first time seeking therapy services, welcome! I work with adult individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and general adjustment to life experiences.
We’re a counseling community creating social impact through therapeutic experiences. We help people grow their resilience. We specialize in working through stress, life transitions, anxiety, depression, compassion fatigue, spiritual complexities, grief, trauma, identity development, relationship stressors, fertility-pregnancy-postpartum journeys, and end-of-life emotional support. We work with individuals, relationships, and workplaces.
I provide therapy for people navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and emotional overwhelm, with a focus on practical support and meaningful change. I offer a warm, collaborative space where we focus on nervous system regulation, strengthening boundaries, and developing more effective ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions. I work with teens, adults and college students seeking support for depression, grief, emotional overwhelm, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I also work with long-standing patterns shaped by stress or trauma, and support individuals living with chronic illness or ongoing health challenges, including women experiencing midlife or hormonal changes. I provide therapy in English and Español. As a therapist of color, my work is grounded in compassion and social justice. I work with immigrant and marginalized communities, including BIPOC, first-generation individuals, activists, and LGBTQIA+ clients. I support clients in building steadiness and agency. If you’re looking for this kind of support, I invite you to reach out.
Are you struggling with communication in your intimate relationships, feeling isolated, coping with a difficult breakup, transitioning majors or phases of life, or experiencing grief from a loss? As a licensed psychologist, I work with students, focusing on the "here-and-now" to help clients make build more effective and rewarding relationships, develop insight, and break through internal and external barriers. I aim for an environment of support, compassion, and challenge. I specialize in processing grief and loss, men’s issues and masculinities, relationship distress, immigration/minority stress, building self-compassion, and transitions (e.g., questions about a major and career change) through collaborative approaches. I predominantly use interpersonal, relational, and dynamic therapies to help clients reach their goals.
I believe healing happens when we learn to listen to our bodies, our emotions, and the deeper wisdom beneath old patterns. My approach is warm, intuitive, and collaborative. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can slow down, notice what's happening inside, and gently reconnect with the parts of yourself that you've had to protect or push aside. I pay close attention to your nervous system and what it's communicating, helping you shift from survival mode into a greater sense of steadiness and self-connection at a pace that feels safe to you. I draw from EMDR, attachment theory, person-centered therapy, internal family systems, psychodynamic therapy, somatic awareness and others. With these modalities, we won't just talk about experiences but will actually work with how they live in the body. We'll explore where tension settles, emotions get stuck, and where there's room for release or expansion. I’m especially attuned to the impact early relationships have on these issues and shape how we move through the world. My main goal is to help you feel seen, safe, and grounded as you rediscover a sense of ease in your body and your life.
You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed by emotions, or unsure how to move forward. Maybe you’re navigating anxiety, depression, or the weight of past trauma, and you’re ready to find a way through it. You want to feel more confident, improve your relationships, and better understand yourself. You may be searching for someone who truly listens, helps you make sense of what’s going on, and works with you to create a path toward the life you envision. If this resonates with you, therapy can be a supportive space where we work together to uncover your strengths and achieve the change you’re looking for. I help you navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions by creating a space where you feel heard and supported. Together, we’ll uncover your strengths, explore what’s holding you back, and work toward meaningful change with tools and strategies tailored to your needs. Let’s work together to help you build the life you want. Taking the step to seek therapy can feel uncertain. I’m here to help you explore your emotions and experiences without judgment, offering compassion and guidance as you navigate challenges. Are you struggling with feeling disconnected from your life and the things that are important to you? Do you feel lost and unsure of the next steps you'd like to take in your life? It is so difficult when life throws pain and suffering your way, when you feel you have little control amidst chaos and stress, or when you feel stuck in routines and habits that are no longer working for you. It takes courage to recognize when you need a change, to take the steps you need to honor yourself, and to help yourself move forward in ways that are most aligned with how you want to live your life. Our work will focus on valued living - living a life that is consistent with who you are, what's important to you, what you want to stand for, and how you want to move through this world, despite hardship. I strive to create a safe space for you to explore where you are at in life, where you want to go, and how we can get you there together. I’ll walk alongside you (and cheer you on!) as you realize your own strengths, connect to your values, and begin living life in the ways that are most meaningful to you. You've come to the right place - let's talk. Note: I am exclusively providing services online at this time.

As a mom and Army Veteran, I am passionate about supporting those who have dedicated their lives to service (of all types!) I am adept at working with the "givers" - the folks who are often over-extending to those around them. I am committed to creating a safe and judgment-free space for you to finally be the one that receives support. Whether you're a veteran navigating the challenges of post-service life, a healthcare provider managing the pressures of the field, a mom juggling the demands of parenthood, or the friend who everyone turns to, I am here to partner with you to give YOU the support you deserve.
I'm Skylar first, therapist second. This means that while I take professionalism and the American Counseling Association's Code of Ethics very seriously, I bring my authentic self to each session. The relationships I form with clients are real, and necessarily so, because it is through genuine human connection that clients find their way. I am not one who finds utility in elaborate hypotheses filled with flowery psychobabble. I work primarily within frameworks of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as Existential Therapy, and I consider psychodynamics to be a crucial component of the therapeutic process. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and welcome clients from all walks of life, experiences and identities. On a personal note, I grew up on the southern Oregon coast and I am a member of an indigenous community, the Tolowa Dee-Ni Nation. I have taught in Oregon public schools, traveled throughout various countries as an ESL teacher, worked in port administration as well as local politics. I enjoy spending time in nature, dancing Argentine tango, sailing and frolicking with my corgi Scuttle. My life experiences have left me with a deep appreciation for how many different ways there are to live meaningful lives, and as a counselor I consider it a great privilege and honor to be a witness to yours. -Skylar p.s. I accept clients on the following Oregon Health Plans: CareOregon, Health Share, Trillium

All inquires should go through our website. www.Principlemind.com The goal at Principle Mind is to get you better. Principle Mind is about the integration of medication with goal-specific therapy. Our approach is to identify the core underpinnings of mental distress. We aim to meet individuals where they are, while at the same time working as hard as you are. While diagnosis and evidence-based medicine do guide our treatment, we treat the person in front of us and their symptoms, as every diagnosis may present differently, and be caused by different sources. If you are motivated, open-minded, and wanting to be more than a spectator in your life, we can work together to obtain wellness and actually get you better. By focusing on core emotional identification and using interpersonal dynamic interactions, we can discover a path to better connection personally, professionally and socially.
