Looking forward to helping you achieve mental health by maximizing your strengths. I take a holistic approach to care that incorporates therapy with thoughtful medication management. Each individual's journey is unique, as is the way in which we process our environment(internal & external). I look forward to partnering with you. Treatment is a wellness journey, with an aim to enhance motivation and achieve clear goals. I am a firm believer in a multidimensional approach to care in order to achieve sustained wellness. My framework incorporates the understanding that we may all experience periods where life management skills alone are not enough and medication augmentation or intervention may be useful in achieving balance and wellness. I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Through direct care experience, my knowledge, motivation and passion for assisting people seeking wellness, has grown exponentially. My experience includes PMHNP Residency training in the VA Boston Healthcare System as well as inpatient Nursing Director at BIDMC.

Welcome! I offer clinical treatment to people experiencing trauma, mood disorders, & issues of identity (race, gender, sexuality, culture). I am South Asian, queer, and genderqueer (they/them). I am also an artist, and happy to incorporate creativity into our work together. No pressure, though! Traumatic experiences have a way of shackling themselves to the body, whether they are accumulated over time or single incidents which compromised our safety. We seek to protect ourselves from a world that has failed to protect us, often coping in ways that hurt in the long run. In our work together we will identify sources of pain, the impact they have on your life, & determine ways to reclaim power so that your body becomes a place of safety rather than a site of trauma. Come as you are. My goal is to be both a gentle witness and an ally, helping you to find & stand in your power, identifying disparities & restoring balance in your life. I believe you are here because you are ready to value & give yourself a chance to shape your future with your own hands. I couldn't be more hopeful for you.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless? Emotions running wild? Past traumas haunting your present? As a trained therapist, I specialize in addressing underlying issues swiftly. With warmth and empathy, I'll create a safe space for you to overcome these struggles and transition from simply surviving to thriving. As a therapist, I act as an emotional support, teacher, and guide on the client’s journey so they gain the skills, insight, and confidence they need. I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and heal from whatever they have experienced in life. I am trained in EMDR which is a powerful therapy technique that can facilitate the reprocessing of traumatic or negative experiences. It reduces emotional distress and promotes healing, leading to improved emotional well-being and a greater sense of empowerment. I am also trained in IFS, which is a transformative therapy approach that helps individuals understand their emotional struggles. It views the mind as a system of different parts, each with its own unique role and purpose. By fostering self-awareness and compassion, IFS allows individuals to develop a harmonious relationship with their internal parts leading to increased self-acceptance, improved emotional regulation, and a greater sense of wholeness and inner peace.

I have an extensive clinical psychology background and I have treated individuals of all ages for a variety of problems. For the past 20 years my practice has also included working with students from many colleges in the area, including Berklee , Emerson, Northeastern, Harvard, MIT, and a number of other schools. In addition to the problems which students frequently bring to a therapist's office, such as depression, anxiety, issues around self esteem, gender identity, school performance, worries about the future, and relationship problems, the Covid pandemic and the need for remote learning and social distancing has exacerbated many of these already difficult issues. I can usually schedule a first appointment within one or two days of contact. I meet with patients (remotely) via telephone and video telehealth platforms only, Monday through Friday from 7AM to 4 PM. I accept BXBS, Anthem, First Health, among other health plans, and will help with out-of-network needs.

Welcome to Meridian Psychotherapy Associates, we support the unique needs of college students. We understand that the college experience can be an exciting yet challenging time, filled with academic pressures, personal growth, and various transitions. Our goal is to provide a specialized and nurturing environment where college students can find solace, understanding, and guidance as they navigate this critical phase of their lives. Our approach to individual therapy for college students is anchored in a deep understanding of the issues they commonly encounter. We address a wide range of concerns, including stress management, anxiety, depression, academic pressures, time management, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and more. Our trauma-informed therapists are skilled in helping college students cope with the complexities of their academic, social, and emotional worlds. For college students in committed relationships, we offer couple therapy to support them in fostering healthy communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening their bonds. We recognize that maintaining a healthy relationship while attending college can be demanding, and our couple therapy sessions are tailored to address the unique challenges couples may face during this phase of life. We also offer adult family therapy, recognizing that family dynamics can play a significant role in a college student's well-being. Our family therapy sessions provide a safe space to explore and resolve familial conflicts, improve communication with parents and siblings, and foster a supportive environment for personal growth and development. To enhance accessibility and flexibility, we offer both in-office and telehealth services. We understand that college schedules can be demanding and unpredictable, so our telehealth option allows students to receive therapy conveniently from their dorms, apartments, or any private space. At Meridian Psychotherapy, we prioritize the mental health and well-being of college students. Our licensed therapists are not only skilled clinicians but also empathetic allies who genuinely care about the success and happiness of our student clients. We recognize the importance of providing a confidential and non-judgmental space for students to share their concerns and explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Our commitment goes beyond therapy sessions, as we strive to empower college students with coping skills and resources they can carry forward throughout their academic journey and beyond. We work collaboratively with students, empowering them to overcome challenges, develop resilience, and build a strong foundation for their future. If you are a college student seeking support and growth during this transformative time, we encourage you to take the first step towards better mental health. Reach out to us for a consultation, and let us be a part of your journey towards personal and academic success. Together, we can navigate the college experience with strength, confidence, and resilience.

My practice is: Queer- and Trans-affirming, Neurodiversity affirming, sex positive, Kink-affirming, and Poly/Non-Monogamy-affirming. I work with individuals and relationships. I like to establish up front that I am a safe person to correct, call-out, interrupt, disagree and argue with. It will not impact our therapeutic relationship. You are the expert of your own life. (If minor is included.) I work with all ages IF conjointly working with the whole system, otherwise I mainly work with adults.

I’ve had the privilege of working with students from all walks of life—PhD candidates at MIT, first-year undergraduates just beginning their college experience, and international students who have traveled across the world to study in the Boston area. I understand the unique mix of excitement, pressure, and expectation that comes with academic life, and I know that the right therapeutic support can make all the difference between simply getting through college and truly thriving in it. We don’t leave our pasts behind when we move onto campus. Sometimes, unresolved experiences or past trauma can create barriers to feeling fulfilled or confident in this new chapter. College is about much more than your major—it’s a time of self-discovery, growth, and learning how to navigate both independence and connection. Whether you’re seeking support for stress management, identity exploration, or processing painful experiences, I’m here to help you build insight, resilience, and a stronger sense of self as you move through this important stage of life.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in diagnostic assessments and evaluations and psychotherapy. Within our practice, I supervise graduate level trainees who provide individual psychotherapy and assessment. We assess clients with a diverse range of clinical difficulties (e.g., Autism Spectrum, developmental/learning disabilities, psychiatric conditions, traumatic brain injury, ). As a clinician, my overarching goals are to help clients and their families assess for diagnoses that will inform treatment and advocate for supportive accommodations and/or services. I approach clinical work from a multicultural perspective and am strongly oriented with a humanistic, person-centered framework. Our clinicians bring experience, expertise and a team approach to diagnosing and treating. If an adult needs to see more than one clinician (e.g., individual, couples work), we work together to provide coordinated, comprehensive care.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Boston, MA

Welcome! I’m Lauren Cohen, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and I’m so glad you’re here. A bit about me: I’m a Los Angeles native, and a White, Jewish, cis-gendered (she/her) clinician. I am open about these parts of my identity when we work together - and strive to create a space where all of your parts always feel seen and welcome. I’ve always been fascinated by emotions, relationships, and behavior. My love for learning about different people has taken me to over 25 countries. Traveling has given me a profound understanding of human nature, “sameness”, and also the vast complexities of different cultures. Outside of sessions, I love creating pottery, being in nature, a good sunset swim, & trying new foods with my family and friends. I approach therapy with a dynamic and evolving perspective, tailoring my methods to meet your unique needs. Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, and Mindfulness are foundational to my work, and I am also a Level 1 trained therapist in Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS allows us to explore the different “parts” of your identity, by uncovering truths and developing your own inner healer. I believe healing comes from building a trusting relationship between mind and body, and creating space for your authentic self to emerge. Meditation and breathwork are often utilized to connect you with your mind’s eye and core self. My approach to therapy is warm, kind and playful. I have a deeply non-judgmental attitude, providing a space where you can feel safe and supported as we navigate the complexities of your inner world. I also embrace the deeper, darker aspects of self, recognizing that these parts of your experience can hold wisdom and strength - the shadow is always welcome in our work.
