I have worked at different university counseling centers in the past, including California College of the Arts, Barnard College, Columbia University, the Graduate Center of CUNY, and last in the role of assistant director of the counseling center at Fordham University. I have been in private practice for 20 years now, where I see many undergraduate and graduate students.
The goal of my work with you is to help you make your life more fulfilling. Good psychotherapy will alleviate your personal suffering, and make you more resourceful emotionally and practically. It will strengthen your capacity to negotiate relationships, to love, and feel more alive and connected. I respect your intelligence, and aim for us to be collaborators in the process of psychotherapy. I listen closely to you and share my questions and observations with you.
I am a psychoanalyst certified by NYU, where I received four awards. I completed advanced training in couple's therapy (White Institute).
I published a book entitled "Immigration in Psychoanalysis," give talks, supervise and teach.
Areas of specialty are: Our relationship to ourselves and others. Couples therapy, immigration and acculturation, childhood trauma, creative and work blocks. I work with a diverse group of people of different ages, class backgrounds, nationalities, ethnicities, sexual identities and orientations. I see adolescents, adults and couples.
I can provide you with paperwork for reimbursement from your insurance company if you are seeking out-of-network sessions.
